Arusha National Park is one of the most gorgeous and geologically varied protected areas in Tanzania. It is dominated by Mount Meru, which has an almost perfect volcanic cone shape and a spectacular crater.
Despite its relatively small size, the park boasts a variety of landscapes. The slopes of Mount Meru and Ngurdoto crater are covered with beautiful green forests, while the lower areas feature a picturesque savannah landscape. In the northeast, you can find shallow alkaline lakes called the Momella lakes, known for their different algae colours and as a habitat for migrating water birds.
